Hey, everybody!

Welcome back. I just did an interview with FRANK MAJORS over at AVN and I thought I'd share a bit of it with you.

AVN: Why do porn and and rock fit so well together?

KL: As legendary Sex Pistol manager/provacateur Malcolm McLaren was recently as quoted as saying in the Face Magazine UK, "Porn is the last punk." Porn has taken the torch from rock. Porn is the new billion dollar excitement industry while unfortunately rock has lots its raison d'etre to nostalgic commodification as it struggles on the radio and sales. We pornstars are what rockstars used to be. We are outlaws, celebrated pariahs of a new-mellenium-post-modern-cutting-edge-give-it-to-me-now-western-culture. We are dangerous. We are the last true counter-culteral movement. We do things that most people only dream about in their wildest fantasies. We walk that incredibly high razor's edge of sexual existence every day, risking HIV every time. We are the true infamous. We are the neo-celebrities you recognize but not necessarily want to admit it. We are the last rebels of societal conformity.

AVN: What made you decide to go from a rock career to a porn career?

KL: I was touring as a guitar player with the late great father of punk rock Dee Dee Ramone and trying to get a record deal of my own. Well, after years of being called "The Next Big Thing" or "The Next Nirvana" by tons of press, touring from L.A. to New York numerous times, and a tiny thing like Dee Dee Ramone overdosing on heroin, the whole thing sort of slowed way down. I was with a really hot dancer at the time (she was also the bass player of the band), she got approached to do some amateur porn, I shot some scenes with her and that's how I got started. So one thing led to the other.

AVN: Has having been in a rock band helped or hurt your porn career?

KL: Well, because I shoot pretty much every day, it's actually made it more difficult for me to find time to do the music as much as I'd like. I think being in a rock band definitely helped my porn career because I have lived a whole life of touring and dealing with the whole rock underbelly before I ever got into porn. I bring that experience with me. Punk rock was my training ground. It toughened me up. Punk helped me to establish my values and gave me the strength and willingness to say, "Fuck you!" to injustice. And believe me, in porn there are people who challenge your boundaries every day, like the fucking Velociraptor's testing the electric fences of their cages in Jurassic Park. I thank God for punk rock. Punk rock saved me and gave me a solid foundation to brace myself for the rigors of not only porn, but life as well.

AVN: Given how far porn-rap-rock have come together in the last decade, where can
it go from here?

KL: The sky is the limit really, haha. I mean, you've got Snoop Dogg, Fifty Cent, Li'l Jon, all these cats are puttin' out videos. These aren't just run of the mill guys, these are the top entertainers in the world right now putting porn videos out. I'm not aware of any well-known rockers currently doing similar things in porn but the rap superstars aren't stupid. This is just going to legitimize the porn industry more, it's only going to strip away more of the already dissipating porn stygma, and as long as people like to see their music heroes party with hot chicks getting fucked it's gonna be big. Vive l'erotique!
