HELLO FANS!!
Welcome back. As you can see I've changed my header on the ol' journal here. As I mentioned in my last journal entry on the P.S. part, I'm a little concerned that some peeps have been checking out my site regularly NOT because they are a KURT LOCKWOOD fan and come here for enjoyment but rather the haters and the jealous come visit to do their well...whatever it is the hell they do, I still haven't figured it out. But I don't care... as the saying goes in the Li'l Kim song, to the haters: "If I were you, I'd hate me, too," haha. So from now on I'm going to start off each and every journal entry with "HELLO FANS!!' because if you are a fan then you won't mind this at all, if you are not then I hope it really pisses off the nefarious idiots to constantly be referred to as such. And hey, if you are one of these aforementioned peeps, dig this, you keep coming to my site and reading my journal and looking at my pics, guess what that makes you....A FAN!!! Choke on that, beeyatch!
Secondly, I've been keeping myself busy during the HIV scare work stoppage (which ends pretty much next week as far as my schedule can tell.) I saw KILL BILL Vol. II which was a good movie just like the first but I really wished they would have kept it just one long movie, I think the movie is weaker for having been sliced in two but the director of photography Robert Richardson is just fucking amazing. I've loved his work going back to Natural Born Killers and beyond. Really inventive stuff. Quentin Tarantino is one of my favorite directors (except for Jackie Brown) I love his gift for adding pop culture dialogue to any given situation, say gangsters talking and his uncanny knowledge of cinematic history is unparalleled. It's like he's a master hip hop sampler except with cinema. He takes the best parts of other movies and cuts them together and modernizes them into something new and fresh and exciting that speaks in today's vernacular. It's rumored that he will be re-editing the movie back into one film for Sundance and then later for release which will be interesting to see.
I also went to go see the legendary CHEETAH CHROME of the seminal Cleveland punk band THE DEAD BOYS!! If I added up all the time I have spent listening to this punk icon play guitar on the exellent Dead Boys' records, it would add up to days, no shit. If you have never listened to "Young, Loud, and Snotty" or "We have come for your children" then I can only express my extreme envy. I wish I had these awesome punk rock records to discover all over again... Anyway, CHEETAH played at SPACELAND club here in L.A. in a place called Silver Lake where WEEZER and BECK are also from. CHEETAH was backed by a powerhouse band known as "SWEET JUSTICE" who performed a set before Cheetah's which just fuckin' smoked. I tended to like their scorching rockers a little more than the bluesier tunes but that's just me. They have one song called "Guns of Navarone" that needs to be on KROQ like yesterday, it's that fucking good. SWEET JUSTICE is fronted by an old punk rock buddy of mine named FRANK MEYERS (pic 1) who now writes for AVN. Frank and I go wayyyy back to when I was playing with DEE DEE RAMONE of the RAMONES and before. That was when his band was called THE STREETWALKIN' CHEETAHS after the old Iggy and Stooges song (hence the quote at the beginning of the journal, silly! Subsequently, this song is also where I got the idea to put a Cheetah tatoo on my upper right arm.) It was great playing with them back in the day because we were coming from a similar place, balls to the wall punk n' roll like the MC5, the Stooges, Black Sabbath, Black Flag, Sex Pistols, Sonic Youth, up to G n' R and Nirvana. Yep, it was all in there. You should've been there. There were nights when both bands would push each other to see who could just decimate the club harder. It was quite a little punk rock scene for awhile there. But alas, for myself, I read the charts and realized that the kind of music that I liked was never gonna come back. Buckcherry were the closest thing to us at the time and they got a HUGE push from Dreamworx and still....a little bit but not really a rock n ' roll resurrection. Nope, you can't act like hip hop never happened. Straight rock (other than boy-band s"punk" like Good Charlotte) is dead, that's why Nu Metal did so well. It incorporated hip hop beginning wth Rage Against the Machine thru Limp and Korn and now even they are struggling, too. >sigh< As the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club sang, "Whatever happened to my rock n' roll?" Answer: it went back underground, which is where I caught the killer rock of SWEET JUSTICE and later CHEETAH Fuckin' CHROME!! If you get the chance to catch them on their current tour I highly recommend it.
Third. There have been a ton of people flapping their gums uncontrollably it seems to the mass media (everybody wants their fifteen minutes). There has been one little disturbing trend that has emerged. I don't know why but some idiots in this industry seem to think that the current HIV scare is a great opportunity to perpetuate the tired old un-true staple of the inane that passes for intelligence around here on Planet Porno. I'm specifically talking about the quote "The industry is all about the women. The guys are just props." Well, isn't that just fucking peachy. Here we ALL are gripped in a serious fucking HIV crisis and some are using the opportunity to say "The guys are just props." Oh, I'm sorry this crisis doesn't affect those of us in the biz with a penis, eh? Jesus Fucking Christ people!! Can you stop all the hating for one fucking minute to try to come together in a time of crisis like this? First of all, I'm so sick of hearing this. Anyone who propogates this massive un-truth should be boiled in their own lube. Seriously, we guys could turn the saying around , "Without plastic surgery, some of these "guys are props" girls would be just waiting tables." Especially the fucking aging hags who keep repeating this misnomer. Let's examine this insult masquerading as fact shall we? After all, what is a prop? The freedictionary.com defines prop as a "movable article or object used on a set or in a play." Even at it's most innocent this is such a fucking rude and debasing, condescending thing to say that I can't believe how freely it's thrown around the biz and I sure as shit can't fucking believe that people are saying it NOW to the national media during a time of HIV scare. Talk about kicking someone when they are down! Ok so back to the analysis. If guys are just a "prop" then that means we are just like a dildo. If this is the case, then why not just eliminate guys altogether and just have the girls fuck themselves with dildos or other girls with strap-ons? What's that you say? Enough of my ranting. Been away a little while. Took some time off during the work stoppage. I got my HIV test back negative from yesterday. So I'd be already to get back to work save for this fucking bronchitis I came down with three days ago.
